Step-By-Step Instructions

All Trophy Boiler models with 60,000 BTU Cast Iron Burner

🧰 Tools Required

  • 10mm wrench or socket
  • Adjustable wrench or pliers
  • Leak-testing spray or soapy water
  • Standard 20 lb propane tank

⚠️ Safety Warnings

  • Outdoor use only.
  • Always perform a leak test before lighting.
  • Never light the burner without water in the pot.
  • Keep children, pets, and flammable materials away.
  • Do not modify the regulator, hose, or fittings.
  • Never cover the air intake or block airflow around the burner.

🪛 Boiler Assembly

Step 1. Safe Set-Up

  • Choose a flat, stable outdoor surface (concrete, gravel, or bare ground).
  • Keep at least 3 feet (1 meter) of clearance from walls or flammable materials.
  • Never operate indoors or in enclosed spaces.

Step 2. Burner Attachment

  • Mount the Burner Inside the Windshield Turn the boiler pot on its side or upside down for easier access.
  • Locate the welded aluminum windshield under the pot.
  • Place the cast-iron burner centered inside the windshield, with the brass orifice block facing outward.
  • Align the center hole in the burner with the mounting hole in the windshield.
  • Insert the 10mm bolt through the hole, add the washer and lock nut, and tighten with a 10mm wrench until snug.
  • Ensure the burner is centered, level, and secure.

Step 3. Propane Connection

  • Connect the Propane Hose Attach the braided hose’s brass fitting to the burner’s orifice block (right-hand thread).
  • Tighten firmly with a wrench, hand-tight first, then snug.
  • Connect the other end of the hose to your propane tank valve.
  • Ensure all fittings are clean and properly seated.

Step 4. Leak Test

  • Open the propane tank slightly and spray soapy water or leak-test solution on all fittings.
  • Watch for bubbles: No bubbles = safe; bubbles = leak.
  • Tighten fittings and retest.
  • Turn off propane completely before proceeding.

Step 5. Fill & Prep For Lighting

  • Never light the burner without water in the pot.
  • Add enough water to cover the skull or object you’re cleaning. (avoid submerging antlers)
  • Double-check that all fittings are secure and the pot is stable.

Step 6. Lighting The Burner & Adjusting The Flame

  • Open the air shutter halfway.
  • Hold a flame near the burner ports using a long lighter or match.
  • Slowly open the propane tank valve and adjust the regulator’s flame control knob to low.
  • The burner should ignite with a steady blue flame.
  • Adjust the air shutter and regulator together for a clean, efficient flame: Yellow flame → too little air (open the air shutter slightly more) Noisy or lifting blue flame → too much air (close shutter slightly).
  • The ideal flame is solid blue and steady.
  • The regulator knob controls flame strength—turn clockwise to lower, counter-clockwise to increase.

♨️ Trophy Boiler Operation

Step 1. Trophy Boiler Operation

  • Maintain a gentle simmer, not a rolling boil.
  • Monitor heat and water levels throughout operation.
  • Never leave the boiler unattended while lit.

Step 2. After Use

  • Turn off the propane tank first, then the regulator knob.
  • Allow all components to cool completely.
  • Drain, rinse, and dry the pot. Store burner, hose, and regulator in a clean, dry area.

🏆 Trophy Tips

  • After cooling, apply a light coat of oil to the cast-iron burner to prevent rust.
  • The aluminum pot will naturally discolor slightly over time — this is normal and does not affect performance.
